LETTER TO GRANDPA IGBO- IMABANA

           Igbo Imabana City Gate

LETTER TO GRANDPA IGBO-IMABANA.

My dearest Grandpa Igbo-Imabana,
I am so happy to write you for the very first time. Circumstances had lay this burden in my heart and  I hope this letter meets you well. I Know you're aged and expecting the fruit of your labours. Don't worry, you'll get to enjoy it after reading my letter.

I know you may be wondering why I chosed  to write you a letter rather than the conventional "secret prayer" I had always engaged on your behalf.
Well, I just realized the prayers have been working yet you choose to be a member of sustainable development and progress disorganizing committee. The last time I checked, your six siblings were  united as the bee, it was few years after you gave the best representation via politics and the traditional institution that you thought you were grown and needed advice no more. You started by giving way for umbrella, broom, chicken and "papa-mama-pikin" to tear you apart. NOW WHERE ARE YOU? I thought after receiving the best advice from strange tongues the inner voice won't be relevant, well it is not!

As I write you this letter, I am deeply pained, I trusted you to be the grandpa we can always run and look back to for advice.

Now that your compound is expanding and you no longer use Eyeh bi'akoli for farming activities, what should be the fate of my unborn grandchildren? I thought, since you lack enough farming space, you'll  invest wisely in this game and use it to change the narrative of those who think you can't survive. But to my utmost surprise, you have chosen to satisfy your stomach with food from the master's table rather than fighting to be one of the masters.
I wonder if it has not dawned on you that your cousins whom you started this race alongside with, are performing more better as though they enrolled for extra-umbrella, extra-chicken and even extra-broom classes.
Don't you want to be like them and save me the shame?

Your cousins are living beings like you, they fight and resolve. They go as far as keeping umbrella, broom and chicken aside to pursue any course that'll be beneficial to them all. How many times have you done this?

Well, this is my first letter to you. The way you handle, deliberate and reply to this, will give me the courage to write you again.

Don't forget, all our eggs is inside the basket and we don't have another compound.
If you treat this letter well, I promise to keep my head high.

I am hoping to see you embrace 2023 with a different mindset.
Let your YES be for your SIX  siblings!
Let your hatred be buried, keep umbrella, broom and chicken aside to pursue the interest of our family.

At this point, I will have to stop here. Hoping to write you again soonest.

Your grandson,
Emmanuel Richard.

DEMOCRACY DAY: THE REMAINS OF A DECAYED NATION AND THE WAY FORWARD.

On 1st October 1960, the Nigerian people could not hold their excitement as they finally broke out from the shackles of colonialism, slavery, and the imperial rule of the Queen of England. For the longer years of intimidation, infringement of human rights, desecration of the traditional Nigerian society, exploitation of natural resources and introduction of systems that at best worked against the Nigerian people and the misunderstanding and war between the amalgamated protectorates. The first Republic coming to an early end through coups and counter coups was unplanned and unforseen. In fact, it was disastrous and deadly was its consequences. Attempts to eradicate bad governance led to the above mentioned fatal experiences and all hopes for change placed on the civilians coming back to occupy the seat of power were a mere imagination.  The June 12th, 1993 Presidential election was considered in the history of Nigeria's politicking as the most free, credible and fair ele...

FRIENDS

The above title refers to those  we cherish so much so that before we make some pressing decisions we always consult them first and sometimes putting our families very far. Before taking this further, let's see some definitions of who friends are, the roles they're supposed to play and in the long run why you should keep one or runaway from one.  So the Advanced English Dictionary has these things to say about "Friend (s)" •A person you know well and regard with affection and trust. •An associate who provides cooperation and assistance. •A person with whom you are acquainted. •A person who backs a Politician or a team.  Going through the definitions we've gotten so far, the very first thing to cross our minds is the fact that before someone is called a friend, he or she must possess certain qualities and characteristics. These qualities and characteristics are the potential factors that builds and strengthen the bond of friendship.  Before considering some of thes...

Agricultural needs of Igbo Imabana Community.

Igbo Imabana City Gate. IGBO IMABANA: WHAT WE NEED AS A PEOPLE. (PART ONE) •AGRICILTURE In the last two decades of my conscious existence within Abi and precisely Igbo Imabana town, I've learnt so much about the values, norms and culture that is being upheld by these group of communities that make up the region, politics wise. Igbo Imabana Community is located in the North Eastern part of Abi Local Government Area and known for her rich soil which made the inhabitants to adopt/sustain agriculture as main occupation. Also, given the fact that right from time immemorial, agricultural experience within the location was used to validate different levels of attainment of status in the society. "The bigger your yam barn, the level of respect you earn". In those days, my mom will tell me: "food was never part of our problems. We had different varieties of yam, cassava and so on, in abundance. During our new yam festival, you will see differ...
